In all cases, we prefer vector files created in Adobe Illustrator and saved as an .ai or .eps file. Always “select all” and convert your fonts to outlines before sending. T-SHIRT PRINTING BASIC GUIDELINES
ARTWORK (also see fonts and colors, below) * send vector files with fonts converted to outlines/paths (please "select all") * convert colors to spot colors and indicate pantone (pms) numbers in the file * keep stroked paths to a minimum of 1pt * any placed image must be 300 dpi - minimum * please send any placed image file along with the vector art (to size) * hard gradations can produce banding, use a smooth blend when building halftones * percentages of color less than 8% print as zero * percentages of color greater than 90% will print as solid due to dot gain POSITIONS AND OUTPUT SIZES * keep art 1" to 2" from all seams including neck and arms; 1-1/2" from neck collar seam * 2.5" down from bottom collar seam is approximate starting point for full front/full back art * 4" down from bottom collar seam is approximate starting point for art placed on "left chest" * 12" down from the bottom collar seam is recommended maximum length for full front or back art MAXIMUM RECOMMENDED OUTPUT SIZE * left chest imprint is 3.5" x 3.5" * on or over pockets is 3" x 3" * adult imprint (full front or full back) is 13" x 13" * youth imprint (full front or full back) is 10" x 10" * toddler imprint (full front or full back) is 6" x 6" * jumbo prints (full front or full back) is 18.5" x 22" (may increase printing cost) * sleeve imprint - short sleeve - is 3.5" w x 5" h * sleeve imprint - long sleeve - is 3.5" w x 13" h FONTS AND COLORS (also see ARTWORK, above) * 10-11 pts is the preferred font size for t-shirts and twill shirts * 12 pts or higher is recommended for printing on pique and other rough surface materials * when printing with water based inks - we cannot pms match colors * when printing with water based inks - shirts must be 100% cotton OTHER * a brand new BeefyT, large, measures approximately 23" across, armpit to armpit (for mockups) * all art subject to approval * all quotes confirmed after art has been approved for printing If in doubt about anything - please inquire (contact firstname.lastname@example.org, 919.779.5968 x301).
